This month we discovered the ultimate gift for architecture and chess aficionados who may also want to invest in a potentially bestselling board game.

Skyline Chess is the brainchild of London-based architects Chris Prosser and Ian Flood, who used an initial Kickstarter campaign and 3D-printing technology to create a chess set with pieces modelled on iconic buildings from their home city.

The duo returned to the fundraising site recently to generate the capital for a New York City edition, which will include accurate representations of One World Trade Tower, the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building and the Flatiron Building. We’d love to see an Australian edition, please!

Read more from Homecrux here, and you can still contribute to the NYC edition on Kickstarter.
