The purpose built 20 bed facility has been designed to provide intermediate care and accommodation to indigenous people and their families visiting Adelaide for medical treatment. Four separate accommodation pods, dining and activity spaces for patient use have been carefully planned to integrate seamlessly within a culturally sensitive environment. In addition, there are dedicated client support areas, an administrative wing with consulting rooms and office space. Unique to this project is the courtyard that houses a fire pit for traditional cooking. Surrounded by Port Augusta red sand, this feature acts as a communal space where people can relax and interact with one another with an informal backdrop.
