Designed and built on a narrow embankment overlooking Grafton Gully, the new School of Fine Arts is simple with an industrial like form that is enhanced by the curved roof, glass and steel staircases at either end of the building. The Mondrian inspired geometric pattern of shapes and bright colours in the façade reflects the schools use as a creative teaching space for art. Ample natural lighting and large, uncluttered open spaces were introduced in the design to provide students with an enjoyable learning environment and flexible working spaces.
