The Murdoch University Tavern has been relocated to the prominent campus position of the Bush Court and forms an integral component of the revitalised Social Concourse a new focus for social interaction between students and staff. Positioned on the western flank of Bush Court, the building responds to the Campus Master Plan objectives to include additional built form to this precinct. The masonry facade is a contemporary interpretation of the cloistered colonnades of the existing buildings behind which is a simple translucent structure of steel and glass housing the tavern. The rear of the building is positioned on a major pedestrian route and by utilising the natural gradient of the site three retail facilities are located under the tavern which face and activate this street.
