The Oral Health Centre of Western Australia’s is now the major dental teaching, research and clinical for dentists, dental hygienists and dental technicians in WA. It combines the UWA Dental School with Curtin University’s School of Dental Hygiene, TAFE facilities for dental technicians and the public treatment facilities provided by the Perth Dental Hospital on one site. The design aesthetic evolved from a desire to present a confident and progressive technological image tempered with the desire to provide a non threatening, non institutional image, which would be recognised as a place of well being.
Testament to the success of the facility has been the number of overseas and interstate visitors within the profession who are using OHCWA as a benchmark for their own proposed facilities.
