Rockingham Hospital has a pivotal role as one of the four major general hospitals in the metropolitan area, delivering a comprehensive range of core clinical services to the South Metropolitan Health Services. The interior design brief was to establish a connection to the Australian bush surrounding the site. In response, an open plan layout to the foyer and administration centres bordered by glass was used. This approach enabled visitors to connect with the outdoors and to allow natural sunlight to filter through creating a bright, and open interior space. To further enhance the bush setting, Blackbutt was used in the wall paneling and remaining furnishings and colours have been chosen to compliment these materials. The overall effect is a warm and inviting environment where visitors may feel comfortable.
