Client:
Department of Transport
Location:
Booragoon, Western Australia
Features:
2 Platforms; 12 Permanent Bus Stands linking directly with the shopping centre via a covered walkway.

The Bus Interchange was designed to address a number of issues including security, safety, maintenance, user comfort, convenience and aesthetics. Simple, lightweight, arching canopies maximise the feeling of space and openness inside the facility whilst retaining a low-key appearance from the street.

The braced columns and arching roof planes reiterate the forms and materials used in the Garden City Shopping Centre, creating a cohesive language for the complex, as well as echoing an architectural interpretation of the clean fine trunks of the gum trees lining the centre of Riseley Street.

Landscaping provides both a soft backdrop for the facility while integrating with the precinct as a whole.
