Inspired by the personal growth that occurs in individuals as they journey through university life, Hames Sharley has created a place that bursts with colour and is suffused in natural light.

Tertiary education facilities are increasingly mirroring developments in contemporary commercial workplace design. These activity based workplaces offer alternative choices and options of where and how to work, study and interact. At Edith Cowan University’s Joondalup Campus, Hames Sharley’s new Student Recruitment Centre provides an inviting, interactive and lively interior that reflects the dynamism and vibrancy of the university. The design seeks to avoid an institutional feel, and uses geometric and organic forms to promote a sense of informality.

Students are greeted by recruiting staff seated in colourful circular pods, while a sculptural wave-form display helps users access a wealth of information. Hames Sharley would like to acknowledge Sumtobel, interface Flor, Gunnersons, Innerspace, Table & Chair, High Performance Window Films, Groove Shopfitting and Edith Cowan University for their input and collaboration in the successful project.

Murdoch University Learning Link

Practical, yet with a serious injection of style, the new Murdoch University Learning Link provides a space that inspires learning.

Hames Sharley’s approach to creating activity based workplaces in the education sector allows students to flow easily between individual tasks and group activities within flexible spaces. A good example of this is the recently completed Learning Link at Murdoch University. This new, purpose-designed building includes a post-graduate lounge, small meeting rooms and an assortment of break-out areas furnished with modern, comfortable seating. It also incorporates workspaces for individual or collaborative study, as well as social interactive areas for casual meetings and discussions. Flexibility inc hoosing where to work is further enhanced with full WiFi coverage throughout, while teaching spaces are provided with the latest AV and recording facilities. Key products and materials utilised in this project included Colorbond, Dulux Acratex, Acrasand Texture Coating and Acrashield protection Coating, Modboard Timber Decking with Klevaklip concealed fixing, and capital 419 Glazing Partitions.
