An extraordinarily successful year for Hames Sharley has continued with the company being named as co-recipients of a number of further awards and commendations.
The Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) held their National Awards at the Advanced Engineering Building at the University of Queensland on Thursday 5th November. Hames Sharley was recognised for its projects the Adelaide Oval Redevelopment (undertaken in association by Cox Architecture, Walter Brooke and Hames Sharley) and Fiona Stanley Hospital (a design collaboration comprising Hames Sharley, HASSELL and Silver Thomas Hanley). The Adelaide Oval was honoured in both the categories of Public Architecture and the Colorbond Award for Steel Architecture, while Fiona Stanley Hospital was given a Commendation for Public Architecture.
When combined with the numerous awards that Hames Sharley has been given by the Institute’s state bodies, the company can now boast a remarkable 18 AIA Awards and Commendations in 2015.
Fiona Stanley Hospital and the Adelaide Oval Redevelopment have also recently been the recipients of a number of awards and commendations given by the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA)‘s state bodies. In Western Australia, Fiona Stanley Hospital was given the Minister’s Award as well as a Commendation in the category of ‘From Plan to Place’. The Adelaide Oval Redevelopment picked up the Minister’s Award from PIA’s South Australian chapter. To complete the company’s tremendously successful year in the planning and urban development sector, Hames Sharley project The Penrith Progression - Place Shaping Framework was given a Commendation by PIA’s New South Wales chapter in the category of ‘Best Planning Ideas - Large Project’.
The INSIDE Interior Design Awards have taken place alongside the World Architecture Festival in Singapore, and once again Hames Sharley has been the co-recipient of an award. At this event, the University of Queensland Oral Health Centre (Cox Rayner Architects in association with Hames Sharley) has been awarded in the Health and Education category.
All of these awards are seen as of considerable significance within the architecture, planning and interior design sectors, and Hames Sharley consider it a great privilege to have made a contribution to such outstanding buildings and developments. While we appreciate and recognise the remarkable efforts of all of the Hames Sharley team throughout our five-state practices, we would also like to acknowledge the outstanding contributions made by our collaborating partners and above all our clients, without whom we wouldn’t have been given the opportunity to work on such iconic projects.
