Hames Sharley Director and National Portfolio Leader of Health, Warren Kerr

Hames Sharley’s Director and National Portfolio Leader of Health Warren Kerr has been featured in the Australian Healthcare Design 2000-2015 publication.

The publication was distributed to delegates during the Design and Health 9th World Congress and Exhibition held this year in Brisbane (July 10-14th July). Warren discusses the development of Australia’s hospital system over the past 200 years and how it has become an integrated system focused on patient-centred care and supported by a knowledge-based industry at the leading edge of design innovation.

Published by the International Academy of Design and Health and edited by Kate Copeland, the book features more than 100 of the most important and innovative health-related facility developments in sectors including acute hospitals, mental health, children’s health, community health, regional health, research facilities, multi-purpose health facilities and cancer centres. It also includes an interesting insight into current and future trends.

Hames Sharley was a sponsor of the recent Congress which focused on future professional practice in health promotion by design. The scientific programme focused on the development of a ‘salutogenic approach’ to health and public infrastructure investment embedded at the core of a preventative care strategy. This strategy will change the emphasis from risk factors and the treatment of disease to a more holistic understanding of a healthy society that promotes wellness.
