Housing for Health project in Los Angeles, California, expects to house and improve the health of 10,000 of the most vulnerable homeless into housing in the next 10 years, thanks to their $40 million dollar Michael Maltzan-designed Star Apartments.

The “internationally attention grabbing” building is made of prefabricated and preassembled cubes and includes amenities such as a communal garden, running track, art room and a library, Gail Holland from the Los Angeles times reports.

Tailored for the chronically sick and mentally ill, architect Maltzan took great care in designing this project and was guided by the principle that all people deserve to live in a healthy environment. The Star Apartments have been taking tenants for the past 12 months.
