Humans are both the users and creators of their environment. Therefore, the need for environmental protection and improvement is of vital importance.

To highlight this, the United Nations have established a World Environment Day. Held annually on the 5th of June, the celebration of this day encourages the world to come together to generate awareness and gather ideas of ways to enhance and protect our environment. This topic is especially fitting for a multi-disciplinary design firm such as Hames Sharley where we are continuously looking towards adopting environmentally friendly solutions throughout all aspects of our practice. Whether this be the broader scope of works that we undertake within our urban development portfolio, our approach to sustainability within architecture or the materials selections made by our interior designers. World Environmental Day is a great way to highlight the necessity of this.

The theme for 2018 is ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’, with the host country being India.

Beat Plastic Pollution calls upon the community to consider how we can make changes in our every day lives in order to reduce the burden plastic has on our wildlife, nature and on our health.
