Multi-disciplinary design practice Hames Sharley was honoured to receive the ‘Peter Hunt Memorial Architects Award’ at the Master Builders WA Excellence in Construction Awards this weekend.
The Excellence in Construction Awards showcase talented builders, sub-contractors, suppliers, and others involved in the high-quality construction of commercial projects in Western Australia. A diverse range of entries was considered, including office buildings, aged care and educational facilities.
In deciding the Peter Hunt Memorial Architects Award, entrants were asked to nominate the three best architectural firms they worked with over the last 12 months, based on each company’s professional standards, quality of documentation, communication skills, and general administration of contracts.
“This award is a reflection of the positive relationships we maintain with our contractors and subcontractors,” said Hames Sharley’s Western Australian studio leader Brook McGowan. “Our commitment to producing work of excellent quality doesn’t stop at design; we ensure every step of the process meets our rigorous standards. It’s an honour to see our contractors acknowledge our professionalism, and that they hold us in such high regard.”
The multi-disciplinary practice specialising in Architecture, Interiors and Urban Design has received the ‘Best Architect’ award on multiple previous occasions, most recently in 2017.
A number of Hames Sharley-designed projects also received accolades on the night; Built earned ‘Best Aged Care Building $50 – $100 million’ with Curtin Heritage Living’s Cottesloe Redevelopment – Stage 1A, while ADCO Constructions took out ‘Best Refurbishment or Renovation $5– $10 million’ for their work at Hames Sharley’s own Perth Studio.
Karrinyup Shopping Centre, designed by Hames Sharley in a joint venture with TRCB, not only received ‘Best Retail Building Over $100 million’ but also ‘Bankwest Best Project’ for Multiplex Constructions, while Cubic Interiors won ‘Subcontractor of the Year’ and ‘Subcontractor of the Year for Finishes’ for their work on the project.
