A collaboration with international engineer, Aurecon has ensured a hugely successful outcome in Aurecon’s own Darwin workplace. A key contributor to the success of the design was the collaboration between Hames Sharley and Aurecon - who performed the role of the project manager. The newly designed workplace speaks to the brand and actively represents the local and natural environment in Berrimah, Northern Territory.

With an aspiration to create a collaborative space, the workspace is multi-functional that is conducive to staff building close working relationships while encouraging effective communication. This principle of workplace ecology was a core element of the client’s brief, with consideration given to the inter-relationships between and among people in the office and the various systems in place at work to improve productivity.

Technology and audiovisual were also well-considered throughout the project, which also aligned with Aurecon’s original brief. Technology in the design needed to be seamless and work with existing Aurecon platforms, a key element to assist in flexibility throughout the working environment.

The result of Aurecon’s workplace design was an open-plan office that successfully integrates into central hub areas of the environment. These areas include a kitchen, collaboration and break-out spaces, multi-purpose rooms, and utility areas. The design also allows for 64 workstations that fit into a 600m2 floor plate.

Aurecon’s workplace is a contemporary office space that is productive, active and engaging for the current staff of 50. It is an environment that puts people first, builds a sense of community and fosters collaboration. The result of the collaboration between Aurecon and Hames Sharley is a workplace that promotes a feeling of comfort, pride, and trust in staff, and is a professional and welcoming space.
