Hames Sharley’s commitment to excellence was re-affirmed last month with the announcement that Health Group Director Warren Kerr, had been appointed as a member of the Order of Australia for his services to architecture and his contribution to the planning and design of major health facilities.
In being recognized in this manner, Warren joins a select but prestigious group of architects who have received the Order of Australia and is the first to be acknowledged for his contribution to the planning and design of major health facilities.
Warren’s nomination for this honour stemmed from his work in promoting the integration of architectural practice with research and teaching in this specialized field.
His current workload includes the redevelopment of Rockingham General Hospital, the conceptual planning for the proposed new 330 bed Midland Hospital, the development of a Master Plan for Osborne Park Hospital and Hames Sharley’s participation in the architectural consortium responsible for the planning and design of the new Fiona Stanley Tertiary Hospital.
In addition to his role on these health projects, Warren is also a part-time Visiting Professor for hospital planning and design in the Faculty of the Built Environment at the University of NSW, as well as a Board member of the of the UNSW research centre responsible for developing the national health facility guidelines for Australia and New Zealand and the UWA research centre for Built Environment and Health.
He also heads the Health Architecture Committee for the Institute of Architects in Western Australia and is in the process of establishing similar Committees in other States. In addition, he represents Australia on an international work group examining ways of improving hospital planning and design and is a member of the Editorial Review Board for the pre-eminent research journal in this field published in the USA.
On behalf of our clients and our respected colleagues in the consulting industry, the Directors of Hames Sharley have great pleasure in congratulating Warren for achieving this significant honour.
William Hames, Executive Chairman of Hames Sharley
