
National interdisciplinary design practice Hames Sharley welcomes a new planner to its Perth Studio, Andrew Cumming.
Joining our Urban Development portfolio as a Principal, Andrew brings 18 years of experience with a passion for the planning and development industry holding senior positions in private practice, local and state government over a respected career.
Andrew will work closely on the team’s Urban Development projects, leveraging his networks with a focus on precinct planning through to approval of individual buildings, and sharing his knowledge nationally.
“Growing up in a regional town, I understand the need for and value helping communities evolve. Hames Sharley has a history of achieving great things within their Urban Development team and I’m proud to apply my expertise to create industry-changing solutions,” Andrew says.
Andrew’s previous work includes the Rowe Group, the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage, the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority/DevelopmentWA, the City of Subiaco, along with other consulting roles.
Highlights include leading the Metronet East planning framework to help facilitate major transport and urban renewal outcomes in Perth’s eastern suburbs, contributing to planning reform in WA, coordinating precinct planning for the Albany Woolstores and chairing the Cities, Infrastructure and Strategic Precincts Committee for the Property Council of Australia WA.
“I’m proud to have established robust and collegiate relationships at all levels of government over a long time and recognise the importance of working together to drive greater outcomes for our cities and regions,” he says.
At Hames Sharley, he’s looking forward to combining his strategic and statutory planning skills and collaborating with a diverse range of portfolios to continue the strong work of our Urban Development team.
