Arup Workplace Perth/Boorloo was recognised for its innovative approach to sustainable workplace design at the 2025 Australian Interior Design Awards, standing tall among the program’s 195 entries and taking home three awards:

  • Best of State Commercial Design – WA
  • Workplace Design
  • Sustainability Advancement

The accolades acknowledge the incredible collaboration between Hames Sharley, Arup and Peter Farmer Designs to co-design a workplace that is considerate of its environmental impact, with meaningful connections between people and Country.

Senior members of our Interior Design team attended the awards at the Sofitel in Melbourne, celebrating the announcements at the glamorous gala dinner attended by over 450 guests. Design Lead Jessica Green accepted the awards on behalf of the wider project team.

“I’m honoured to see the team’s vision and hard work recognised nationally. It’s an incredibly proud moment that celebrates genuine collaboration, a drive to do better, and a commitment to people-centred design,” Jessica said.

The project impressed the judges with its embodiment of Arup’s values and commitment to collaboration through co-design and sustainability. In winning the Workplace Design award, the judges unanimously agreed that the project is ‘rich, dynamic and energised’, as well as highly engaging and tactile.

“Its distinct workshop-like feel provides spaces that feel authentic and intuitive and accommodate a variety of functions. It is a space that encourages interaction and creativity in the workplace,” the citation reads.

In winning the Sustainability Advancement award, the judges noted the project is an exemplar of a holistic sustainability approach that employs a considered light touch and responsible use of resources.

“Arup Workplace, Perth/Boorloo achieved Platinum WELL Building Standards and its design decisions are evidence-based and backed by data, providing a well-rounded, proven outcome for the workplace.”

Housed within WS2, Perth’s first hybrid-timber office tower, Arup’s Workplace is reflective of the global consultancy’s values, unique culture and commitment to sustainability. It is imbued with an authentic connection to, and reverence for, Country, cultivating space to acknowledge stories of its place and past, and to nurture those yet to come.

Now in its 22nd year, the AIDA awards recognise and celebrate industry-leading interior design outcomes backed by the Design Institute of Australia.

This outcome is a significant win for interior design excellence in Australia, showing how workplaces can be designed to minimise environmental impact while fostering meaningful connections between people and Country.
