With a number of Australian design awards already to its name, Arup Workplace, Perth/Boorloo has now received international recognition for industry-leading interior design, winning The Work Space category at the INDE.Awards.
Presented at a gala event at Saltbox in Sydney, the award is a significant acknowledgement by the program, which represents the best projects in the Indo-Pacific region and celebrates progressive design and architecture on the global stage.
The result of a codesign approach between Hames Sharley, Arup and Peter Farmer Designs, the workplace reflects Arup’s values, unique culture and commitment to sustainability. It is imbued with an authentic connection to – and reverence for – Country, cultivating space to acknowledge the stories of its place and past, and to nurture those yet to be shared in its future.
Hames Sharley Associate and project design lead Jessica Green was honoured to receive the award on behalf of the wider project team.
“It’s been incredible to see this project recognised internationally. It reflects the strength of collaboration, and a shared commitment to design that puts people, sustainability, and Country at the centre. Working with clients like Arup, who bring a genuine vision to do better, is key to achieving such meaningful design outcomes,” she said.

Located on Whadjuk Noongar Country, Arup’s new workplace is a testament to the strength of storytelling in design. Shared stories of place from the Farmer family were translated spatially, forming a conceptual narrative that grounds the project in its local context. Sculptural installations by the Farmers and Little Rhino Designs are woven throughout the space, honouring the local context, its people, stories, and Country, and sparking ongoing cultural discussions and education.
By embracing regenerative design, biophilic principles, and authentic First Nations voices, the team has codesigned a space that is not only a joy to work in, but that fosters collaboration and connection.
Congratulations to our trusted collaborators – ARUP and Peter Farmer Designs – and to all shortlisted and awarded entries of this year’s INDE.Awards program.
