Hames Sharley provided Architectural and Interior Design services for a Lobby and Retail repositioning at 357 Collins Street. This comprised the refurbishment of an existing lower ground food hall and office foyer. The refurbishment aesthetically enhances and activates key spaces and has reaffirmed the retail complex as an integral part of the community and important gathering place for people to meet and shop.

The new laneway design creates a clear line of sight to Collins Street from Flinders Lane, opening up to the public realm on Flinders Lane and Fulham Place supporting safe access from morning to evening. The new design creates a highly sought-after amenity on its end of Flinders Lane, creating a unique offering through external activation to Flinders Lane which responded to the Restaurant culture slowly creeping down to the Western Core Precinct

Finding that balance of day and night, corporate and laneway, was a key aspiration of the design. Understanding the aspects of Collins and Flinders street, the connection of time came to the forefront of the design narrative. Morning activity is primarily for office meetings and coffee catchups, and as the day progresses things start to become more active and playful.

The ground floor has a sophisticated soft palette with tonal colours, then bright colours shine through as you head downstairs to the food court and laneway. Like Melbourne CBD, we want to create hidden moments that catch the attention of people passing through.
