Rundle Mall Plaza Redevelopment

Hames Sharley was commissioned to utilise a number of different design and project management disciplines in order to conduct the major redevelopment of 4 floors of Adelaide’s Rundle Mall Plaza, totalling 15,000m2.

With an emphasis on architecture, interior design, project management and tenancy architecture, the project team were asked to fit-out the existing mall and upgrade the existing mall, escalators and façades, as well as create designs for a new, modern dining terrace including internal voids.

The design offered a series of challenges, including working with an existing steel frame structure that housed ongoing operational tenancies. Furthermore, the project required liaison with multiple stakeholders and a sensitive design response when refreshing this iconic, historically significant building and its prominent minimalist façade.
