Reusing materials for LEED certification

Many building designers have started prioritising LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification in their projects over the past decade, as the industry has caught up with the need for better long-term design solutions. As a result, the reuse of building materials has increased.

In an article by Mara Freeman on Poplar, Hames Sharley’s Adelaide Studio Director Darren Bilsborough goes into detail about some of the benefits of reusing materials in new buildings, and the issues to be taken into consideration when choosing where and how to reuse materials.

Darren holds LEED accreditation and was one of the founding members of the Green Building Council Australia.
